Pescetarian Living

I have been a pescetarian for quite a while now (my diet includes seafood, but not the flesh of other animals) for mostly health reasons, based on that red meat contains high amounts of saturated fats, choline and carnitine (just google this jack). I'd abstain from all animal products, BUT eating fish raises HDL levels and are a source of omega-3 fatty acids and basically have numerous health benefits in one food variety. Cornering myself as a pescetarian, doesn't mean I don't try to live as vegan as I possibly can (and I try to force everyone surrounding me to do so as well.. sorry guys, its for your own good) and I can happily say that ever since I discarded all animal flesh from my diet, I haven't been ill once! Which is huge in my case. You know, mad skinny and all.

The thing that gets to me is when people ask me ''Then what do you eat??'' Just to be clear. I ended up expanding the palette of foods I ate, rather than restricting it. I ended up experimenting with new recipes and started eating foods I wouldn't have tried otherwise. I can tell you that my culinary life is more vivid and interesting than ever. Before, none of my friends would ever be interested in a Sander made dish, but thats far in the past. Food is so much more exciting to me now.

Although I try to refrain myself from too many dairy products like cheese or milk or too much seafood like tuna or salmon (I won't dwell on the ethical issue here... don't worry) I sometimes miss my Starbucks Tuna Sandwich. And today was the day when I randomly made one of the best sandwiches I've ever made, within maybe 5 minutes.

Ingredients:

- 1 tuna can

- 1 hand of cranberries

- 1/2 apple

- mayonnaise

- 2 slices of whole wheat bread

Steps:

1. Open the tuna can and drain it

2. Mix the cranberries with the tuna

3. Cut the apple in little pieces and mix it with the rest

4. Add a little bit of mayonnaise

5. Put it on the bread and slice it diagonally

EASY NO? And its pretty healthy, minus the mayonnaise.. 

Your typical Spring '14 RTW with Rick Owens.

The atmospherics at a Rick Owens show are always compelling but this had me dying. The American-born, Paris-based designer, is known for his radical collections and knowing he's one to shock his front row, I definitely didn't expect something like this. I think this was his way of saying that not all models need to be Kloss-sized? Definitely an intriguing show, I even noticed some of the fashion. Great silhouette.

What the Heck?

Erik Madigan Heck always tries to explore the boundaries of fashion as art and he became one of my favorites ever since his work for Mary Katranzou.

He's also a movie maker and is the founder editor of Nomenus Quarterly so I thought it was about time to blog about him & his work (Mary Katrantzou, Etro Homme, Rodarte, Kenzo, Haider Ackermann, Comme des Garcons, Alberta Ferretti, Dries Van Noten, Ann Demeulemeester and The Row AMONGST OTHERS). 

Vision is the strongest motive for creation, especially when art and fashion are about to become one. 

Erik was being named the youngest photographer to shoot the Neiman Marcus Art of Fashion campaign and is has his newest project: the hosting of “Seven Film Works”, in an exhibition at The Avant/Garde Diaries in Soho. His films of the past three years, are a moving image project for which he collaborated with designers as Ann Demeulemeester, A.F. Vandevorst and the composers Avro Part and Marsen Jules. The films will be projected on the windows of Soho’s project space and will undoubtedly be a though-provoking procedure as to explore the boundaries of fashion as art.

Kyle, formerly Elle's Senior Accessories Editor, recently took over Taylor Tomasi Hill as the Accessories Director at Marie Claire and is now working closely with Nina Garcia. The Swede is only 30 years old but is the person behind all the hip, chic, glamorous, classy and edgy, avant-garde accessories-trend reports & layouts you see in MC.

Skin Is In

I think all my friends know by now that I have a bit of an obsession with leather jackets and although most of mine are vintage - traveling occupies my finances completely - I do feel like this is one of those purchases you can go all out on because of its aesthetic appeal and durability. 

Although I normally go for the typical biker-ish jackets, I've noticed that lately I feel attracted to those skin-ish leather jackets we've seen in Milan.. and some color other than black! For once..

Let's hope they become vintage anytime soon......
